Alchemy: The Philosopher's Stone

While medieval alchemists often get a bad rap it is usually due to people's ignorance on the subject. Alchemy was the science of the middle ages but it differed from our understanding of science in that it did not differentiate between factual science and religion.  The greatest goal of Alchemy was "the Philosopher's Stone" which was said to turn base metals into gold. However, the steps to obtain the stone were also meant as an allegory for spiritual enlightenment and the perfection of one's soul. It would be fair to say that, to an alchemist, this process of spiritual perfection was the true purpose of Alchemy.

The process of the stone, and much of the alchemical philosophy, is deeply tied to old and obscure occult
practices and is seen to have a strong correlation to the paths of the Tarot and the Qaballa as well.

That being said, Alchemy was also concerned with observable scientific study and was the guardian of scientific thought through those dark years known as the Medieval Period. Alchemists possessed a much greater wealth of knowledge than most people are willing to attribute to them. For example, Alchemists understood and recorded the fact that the Earth was indeed round, they had observed and recorded that white light contained lights of other colors and they were, in many cases, responsible for medicine at a time when most scholastic study was dedicated to religious topics.

The obscurity of most alchemical texts is understandable when you consider the power that the established religious organizations had at the time. However, we must also take into account that, as are scientists today, alchemists were concerned with keeping their discoveries their own. For both these reasons alchemists felt it important to cloud their words in allegory and fantastical writing.

I feel that modern science could possibly learn a lot from the concept of combining scientific and metaphysical study as there is much heart ache that derives from the vigorous separation of religion and science, neither of which, alone, can offer a complete personal understanding of our own existence.

THC Ministry Update: We Need Your Help Now!

Aloha -

We are writing to you because you signed up at the thc-ministry.org website, and in some way Rev. Roger Christie touched your life.

There is a great injustice taking place in Hawai`i that threatens all of our cherished liberties .

Rev. Roger Christie,  the founder and leader of the Hawai`i  Cannabis THC Ministry, has for many years operated the Ministry openly on the bayfront in downtown Hilo, here on the Big Island of Hawai`i. Roger Christie ministered to homeless and indigent Cannabis patients and others. The local police were all aware of his mission and activities -- as were members of the County Council and the Mayor. Whenever cannabis issues were raised in the news, Roger was always the spokesman for religious, medical and private adult use sought after by the news media,  locally, nationally and globally.  His words reached millions.

On July 8, 2010 the Federal Government -- in the persons of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the National Park Service, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Postal Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals Service, and the U.S. Coast Guard, arrested Roger Christie along with 13 other individuals (collectively being called the Green 14) -- one of whom was his girlfriend and life partner Share E. St. Cyr. They were then flown over 200 miles to Honolulu in a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft for their arraignment and detention.

While the 13 were all released with a simple signature on a personal bond, Roger Christie has been denied bail by four separate Federal Courts on the tenuous ground that he is a "danger to the community." He is being held without bond in lieu of trial, now scheduled for April 26, 2011. What "danger" is this harmonious  man to the community? In fact, Roger can only speak the truth, and the Federal Government is afraid that people will listen. This is the clearest definition of a "political prisoner".

Think about it – locked and sealed away until the end of his anticipated criminal sentence - what is our federal government afraid of? Deprived of his Constitutional right to free and open access to his Federal public defender, and sealed off from his many friends and supporters, Roger Christie remains the "happiest person" in the Federal Detention Center because he knows he will someday get his day in court for the  'last marijuana trial' .

The government has spent literally millions of dollars and more than two years of investigation, including wiretaps on his  phones  and other surveillance.

The outrageous flaunting of Roger Christie's Constitutional right to free speech and the free exercise of his sincere religious beliefs, by the Obama Federal government, has angered many in our community here in Hawai`i and across the country.  Add to this the denial  of  due process and a speedy trial, and being  held without bail before  being found guilty of anything in an alleged crime that has zero victims.

In response to this act of political tyranny, we, the friends of Roger Christie and the THC Ministry here in Hilo, Hawai`i, have started a non-profit corporation: The Cannabis Charity Education and Defense Fund. We have managed to raise some small amount of funds to help Roger in his time of need. In order for Roger to be able to have phone, computer and even commissary privileges, he must pay his jailors $600.00 per month!

Through fund raising at several Rallies for Roger, we have passed on almost $1,000. Of course the government confiscated all of his modest savings and liquid assets, leaving Share  out of money  and alone, having to sell her truck in order to survive and to help Roger while he remains behind bars.

So there he sits in the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu.  Since  you are still reading this letter you may be asking what you can do to help. There are a few things you can do. One is to write a letter of support to Roger, or just a letter. Sitting in jail without even a chance to go outside can be a trial in itself and letters are a welcome gift.

You can also write your political representatives in the federal government letting them know of this over-the-  top  flagrant violation  of Roger's Constitutional rights. Write a letter to the editor or friends in the media that could bring light to this dark situation.  Letters to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser would be especially welcome.

Finally you can donate to Roger Christie's cause. We have paypal methods of money transfer set forth below. He can also receive use  of  funds sent directly to his prison account to be used to offset the expenses he incurs in jail. This can be done by sending a money order to the address below.

Okay, so maybe I am a little prejudice by saying that I love this article.  Yes, it is written by my wife Brenda. All that aside, it is a really heartfelt story that helps clarify how the concept of ONENESS can be understood by learning about or studying these really cool images that are constructed using a simple mathematical equation.

See where it takes you.

Awesome! I'd love to see this!

 Awesome!
Working Replica of  Noah's   Ark opened In SCHAGEN,   Netherlands .
Man Builds Noah's Ark  to the exact scale given in the  Bible.

The massive  central door in the side of Noah's Ark was opened

and the first crowd of curious  townsfolk beheld the wonder.

This replica of the  biblical Ark was built by Dutch Creationist
Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the  literal truth of the Bible.

The ark is  150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits  wide.

That's two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house.

Life-sized models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison

and other animals greet visitors as they arrive in the main  hold.

A contractor  by trade, Huibers built the ark of cedar and  pine.

Biblical scholars debate exactly what the  wood used by Noah would have  been.

Huibers did  the work mostly with his own hands, using modern tools and with occasional help from his son Roy.

Construction began in May 2005. On the uncovered  top deck
.... not quite ready in time for the opening
....will come a petting zoo, with baby lambs and chickens, and goats, and one camel.

Visitors on  the first day were stunned.

'It's beyond comprehension', said Mary Louise Starosciak, who  happened to be bicycling
by with her husband while on vacation when they saw the ark looming over the local landscape.

'I knew the  story of Noah, but I had no idea the boat would  have been so big!'

There is enough space near the keel for a 50-seat film theater where kids can watch a video that tells the story of
Noah and his ark. Huibers, a Christian man, said  he hopes the project will renew interest in
Christianity in the Netherlands, where church going has fallen dramatically in the past 50  years.

Now that I am  old and gray....

give me the time to tell this  new generation (and their children too
about  all of Your mighty  miracles.
Psalm 71:18

Prop 19: Amsterdam Psychiatrist Blasts US Drug Czars for Distortions, Fear-Mongering | MND: Your Daily Dose of Counter-Theory

It is always a great day when the Truth comes out about the corrupt moral practices of our so-called trusted servants. I love it. Thank You God!

from MensNewsDaily.com:

Most outrageously, the drug czars ignore the well known and undisputed statistics that show that Dutch use of cannabis remains about half that of the US and is comparable to – or less than – use in our neighboring countries with more repressive policies. Moreover, Dutch heroin use rates are also less than half of US rates. We attribute that fact to what we call the “separation of the markets” for hard and soft drugs.
...It is my firm belief that the American people, and certainly Californians, would support decriminalizing drugs and regulating drug markets, if only they knew that the drug problem in their country is much worse than in countries with more liberal policies. The problem is that Americans do know that their country has a serious drug problem, but they also believe or are convinced that in the Netherlands and other European countries the situation is even worse. This is what they have heard from their governments and drug czars.
Just trying to get the facts straight...grin!

Journalism warning labels on the Webisphere

We see bias in all types of journalism, citizen and mainstream. But how can we warn others about certain mistakes afflicting lazy writers?
Blessings All,

I've been greatly expanding my territory lately, and the statement above caught my eye while exploring DigitalJournal.com. I've been reporting more lately, and while traveling through the wild world of wikis on the Global Webisphere, I had some interactions with the wiki police.  And I say this with a big smile because sometime it does take a little basic law and order to keep one's house a home.  What an interesting place to roam, I must admit.  Suffice it to say that there are many enlightened souls that are indeed protecting the webisphere from misinformation and as such they assume a responsibility to the Light of Truth.

And it's all good.  I'm here to play and I'm here to stay, and as an evolving journalist myself, it is imperative that I learn the rules of the game.  I'm betting that the golden rule is still the only real rule that needs to apply.  There is still a universe of information out there that has yet to be crystallized into the digital halls of cyberspace.  What a grand site those halls are out here in the uni-verse.

Grandma Kay Lee's Birthday Wish

this just in from Grandma Kay Lee...
--- begin e-mail post ---
Tomorrow (Sept 8th) is my birthday. Someone asked what my wish would be.
It is this: That every human being, each and every one of us, feel forever
loved.
If someone asked me what friendship is, I would sit next to you, pull you
close to me, put my arms around you and say proudly, 'this is friendship'.

Post Body:

There was a post awhile back while I was in the hospital asking what you listen to when you garden. I like classical music some days, and some days I listen to KOMA Oldies. Sometimes I like the old-time songs, Folk music, or country music that I find on the radio, but some days I play my CDs. While weeding and cultivating, I can do a lot of contemplating about what is going on in the world, in this country - my intense concerns about the future and the world environment. I get actively involved in these issues (always have) that concern us all and music often is a great avenue to open my thoughts in many ways. Sometimes a song comes on that makes me happy "Feel Good Music" and I have to move, so I dance and sing around in the garden. Among my many favorite song writers and performers is Mr. John Prine.

Here's part of a little tune I like that was written and performed by John Prine back a few years ago or ten or twenty. I like to sing it alot while "I'm in the Garden":

Spanish Pipe Dream

"She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
Well she pressed her self against me
About the time the juke box broke
Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck
And these are the words she spoke"

(Chorus)

"...Blow up your t.v.; throw away your paper;
Go to the country; build you a home.
Plant a little garden; eat a lot of peaches;
Try an find Jesus on your own"

"...Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
When just as I was leavin', well she looked me in the face
I said "you must know the answer."
"she said, "no but I'll give it a try."
And to this very day we've been livin' our way
And here is the reason why

(Chorus)

We blew up our t.v.. Threw away our paper;
Went to the country. Built us a home.
Had a lot of children. Fed 'em on peaches.
They all found Jesus on their own"

------------------------------------------------
I'm just an old hippie, I guess, but I just love that song and that man. Love his satire. Love his bleeding heart.
Been listening to his music all morning...so much was written decades ago, but they are so poignant and still relevant today.

420 and The Tree of Life

It is TRUE that the term "420" is Now synonymous with the "reverence for" and "partaking of" the wonderful gift of The Tree of Life!
So Be It! Amen.
Don't just take my word for it though, here is what Barbara "4 and 20 blackbirds" Mikkelson has to say on the subject...smile!  If my intuition is correct here, I would venture a guess that the now famous Barbara Mikkelson may just have partaken of the sacred herb herself at one point or another in her life.
Thank you Barbara for your thorough analysis of this spirit sanctifying medicinal herb from the great "I AM!"

Wood-Free Publishing Is On The Horizon

Changes are taking place on the publishing front regarding TRULY green options for our future. Young people in America are finally beginning to see the big picture.  Katie Padilla, a recent college graduate and budding young journalist out of Texas did a nice job summing it up.

Would you believe?
According to Hardy Green in "Pulpless Fiction" (The Business Week, June 23, 2008) an average of 30 million trees pay the price each year for our reading material.
and
Margo Baldwin, in "Zero-Waste Publishing" (Publishers Weekly, August 14, 2006) calculated that each book releases roughly 8.9 pounds of emission. In 2004, the gross sales of consumer books averaged a total of 188 million pounds of diesel fuel simply through transport.
She goes on to identify the changes taking place as the collective consciousness of humanity begins to correct this huge environmental impact.  It begins above, in the ether, through the proliferation of digital media on the Global webisphere.
Solutions to this problem are three-tiered. The first tier, already in full force, is through e-publishing. It is relatively easy to do; many e-books require a simple Adobe Reader or Microsoft Player download
The second tier, already implemented yet still kept rather under wraps, is the brain-child of Amazon.com...(read the full article)
Meanwhile, back here on the tera firma, our journalilst begins to enlighten us on the economic advantages of using wood-pulp alternatives
The third tier, which will be the biggest once it becomes more developed, is the development to find alternative methods to paper-making aside from traditional wood-pulp. The conservation of trees is not necessarily an issue, but rather the other elements that are involved in paper-making. There is research pending on more "green" paper, using fibers ranging from the bagasse plant (sugar cane), to kenaf (a long-fiber plant that originated in the East Indes and is grown in the U.S.). Kenaf, for example, can be produced at about half the cost-per-unit of wood pulp. Hemp is even a viable option; it can be recycled seven times, impressive compared to the four times for wood. Jim Motavalli states in "The Paper Chase" (E--The Environmental Magazine, May/June 2004) that hemp is stronger than wood, lasts longer, and the paper made from its pulp is both acid- and chlorine-free after treatments.
I would like to have seen the author put a little more emphasis on the hemp solution, as my research indicates hemp as the most ecological solution that will benefit society on a multitude of levels.  More on that will be reported soon, so stay tuned. And I am proud to report that I am in full agreement with Katie's conclusion that
The future of publishing looks very green on the horizon, and as the Digital Age progresses the written word will see a new light. Whether pushing the button or physically turning the page, trees are on their way out. In their place is a breath of fresh, clean, and pure air, and in their wake is a small footprint.
Amen to that!

Out here in the Webisphere, there is no air pollution. It's like heaven.  As above, so below. Let's plant those seeds and grow, grow, grow!

Peace from Above,
RJ
